Think Like Jesus
Dear Friends,
Why was Jesus able to be humble? After all, He was God in the flesh. He took on Satan in the wilderness and defeated temptation by the almighty authority of the Word of God. The power of His love held Him on the cross, and the force of His righteousness conquered death and the grave. He was the mightiest man ever to walk the earth.
So, why was Jesus able to have humility, even to the point of death? I don’t pretend to know the whole answer, but I suspect that Philippians 2 and I Corinthians 13 are inextricably linked. Jesus was humble because Jesus knew what it meant to love perfectly. His love was patient, kind, without envy, boastfulness, or pride. His love was not rude, self-seeking or easily angered. It kept no record of wrongs… in fact, it erased the record of our wrongs. His love did not delight in evil, but rejoiced with the truth. It always protected, always trusted, always hoped, always persevered, even to the point of death on a cross. His love was perfect, and His attitude was humble.
We cannot, in our own power, attain a humble attitude motivated by a selfless love. Only when we bow before our Lord in gratitude for the wholeness of His grace toward us in Jesus, and only when we accept the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives can we begin to walk in humility and love. Thinking like Jesus begins with knowing His love, firsthand.
My prayer for you today is that your attitude, or your “settled way of thinking,” is one of humility springing from the knowledge of the love you have been given by your Heavenly Father.
Blessings,
Ron

Thank you Ron, for reminding me that I cannot "by my own power, attain a humble attitude." So often I try to will power this attitude, instead of surrendering that attitude and allow Jesus Christ, living in me, be the source of change.
