Here I Am Reporting for Duty
Dear Friends,
I have recently been reading a book by John MacArthur called Slave. In the book, MacArthur looks at the 150 times the word “dulos” is used in the New Testament. He says it is a “hidden word” in the New Testament because it has consistently been translated as “servant” rather than by its true meaning, “slave.”
In relation to this concept, MacArthur says, “A servant does a job; a slave is owned. When you understand the concept of the Christian as a slave, then you understand what it means to be bought out of the slave market of sin. As believers, we are slaves who become friends, friends who become sons, and sons who become joint heirs. It just changes everything that I perceive about the Christian life.”
I have been so challenged in reading the book because I have seen, in new ways, the truth that God owns my life. I am truly His, completely His, wholly His, because I was bought with a price and now I am owned for eternity.
I encourage you to read the book Slave, and to show up each morning with the heart cry of, “Here I am, Lord, reporting for duty.”
Blessings,
Ron

I stand amazed. God has been all over me this past week about something pretty stinkin" big He is calling me to do. I have been pushing, pulling, screaming, kicking against Him on this. Your message was yet another tap on the head that God seems to keep on me about this. Nudge, nudge, nudge. I am weary with fighting. I know what I must do...trust Him. But his plans are too big for me and I am scared. I don't want to be used this way. i want to stay a shiny happy Christian, love God, love people and sevre my world...the way I WANT TO. He's calliing me to even greater things and I am still wrestling Him on this. I will obediently follow His call, but I would be grateful for your prayers. Prayer for me to trust Him, to know He will handle the details, He will meet my needs during the process and that He will be the one who does the heavy lifting so long as I obediently and faithfully step out in faith. Thank you, Ron. You were abundantly used to speak to me today.
Tony
